Study in Canada by applying for a student permit with Form IMM 1294, Application For Study Permit Made Outside of Canada.
Form IMM 1294 is used by individuals who want to apply for a study permit. Approved study permits may be limited to study at a certain school, or certain course of study.
In addition to applying for a study permit on Form IMM 1294, applicants outside of Canada must generally also apply for a Temporary Resident Visa. Exceptions to this requirement apply to applicants from visa-exempt countries. Please visit the IRCC (formerly known as CIC) site at http://www.cic.gc.ca/ for more information on exemptions from the visa requirement.
Generally, if you are not a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, you must obtain a study permit in order to study in Canada.
However, certain exceptions to this general rule apply.
In order to qualify for a study permit, you must show the officer that you meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations and that you will be in Canada for a temporary stay only.
